The origin of cat litter can be traced back to 1947, when an American woman couldn't provide her cat with toilet material due to the cold weather, the sand was frozen, , and asked her neighbour Ed Roy for help. Ed Roy recommends a very absorbent natural clay called Fuller's clay which not only absorbs cat urine very well, also reduces some of the odors. when Kay took the clay home and used it, did so well that Ed Roy sold it in paper bags to pet stores under the brand name KITTY LITTER and started the history of commercial cat litter.
The types and functions of cat litter have evolved and improved over time. In the early 1980's, biologist and veteran cat owner William Mallow invented a kind of curdle clay litter. stands for bentonite litter. the litter absorbs water and quickly clumps together. the clumps just need to be scooped out each time. is a favorite of cat owners. Since then, in order to pursue cleaner, more absorbable and more convenient, cat litter production has been changed and improved constantly, and more kinds of cat litter including with silica (a kind of quartz) have appeared. These innovations revolutionized the cat's place in the human family, made owning a cat a more elegant and fashionable thing to do.
